UNC Trip
We listened to a presentation for about an hour to a hour and a half then we went into three rooms. In one room we learned about catheters. Catheters are used to diagnose heart conditions, such as coronary heart disease. Catheter testing involves inserting thin tubes within coronary arteries. In another room we dissected a heart. We had to wear proper equipment when doing so, this being gloves. The third room was for the cardiogram. A cardiogram is also know as an electrocardiogram or EKG. An EKG is used to measure a heart's electrical activity. Following this, we went to lunch. Once lunch finished, we split into 12 groups, in each group we went to different parts of the hospital. My favorite parts of the hospital were the physical therapy centers, pharmacy, and the patient simulators.
