Duke University Hospital Junior Volunteer Summer Program

 

Volunteers ages 16-17 provide service to patients and families. Roles include providing directions to patients and families, serving in the gift shops, and helping ease wait times for families in waiting areas.

WakeMed Structured Junior Volunteering

​

Volunteers ages 16-18 will begin as Guest Ambassadors in order to learn the facility and feel comfortable in the healthcare environment before moving to other areas.

​

  • Summer (June/July/August) Track Application Opens First Monday of April between 2:30 - 4:30 p.m.

  • Fall Track (October/November/December) Application Opens First Monday of August between 2:30- 4:30 p.m.

  • Spring (March/April/May) Track Application Opens First Monday of January between 2:30 - 4:30 p.m.

Volunteer at a Food Bank Near You

 

Volunteers help feed America by helping out with soup kitchens, food pantries, and meal programs. Contact your local food bank or check their website to learn about the volunteer opportunities in your area.

Project Uplift

​

Summer enrichment and college access program for juniors only. It is a two-day experience where students live on Carolina's campus, interact with faculty, staff, current students, and participate in educational, social, and cultural activities. Sessions are held from Thursday to Saturday.

  • Week 1: May 21-23

  • Week 2: May 28-30

  • Week 3: June 4-6

  • Week 4: June 11-13

Heart for Homeless

 

Heart for Homeless aims to improve the health of underserved populations by connecting them to primary care. You will research low-cost medical resources in your area, get in touch with representatives, and then compile the information into a guide to distribute to local homeless shelters, soup kitchens, and emergency rooms. If you're interested, email Shreya at shreyagundam@gmail.com and she will get back to you with more information.

Curamericas Global

 

Curamericas Global is a non-profit organization that focuses on helping communities make sustainable improvements in their health and wellbeing. The key work involved would be supporting global outreach efforts, learning about global health, and other special projects depending on skills. If you speak Spanish, then you can apply to volunteer here or for rising seniors only, you can apply for an internship. Curamericas Global Mom-A-Thon

 

Curamericas Global and Enloe MBSA are teaming up for an event called Mom-A-Thon. This initiative focuses on preventing maternal death during childbirth, ensuring each baby is born alive and healthy, and eradicating preventable childhood illnesses. Our goal is $7500! We encourage students to donate if able and to share the message with at least 5 people. The donation link is here. Email us any questions you may have and we'll address them.
