MBSA Guest Speaker - Dr. Patel-Nguyen, M.D.
At the meeting of September 26th, 2017, we were fortunate to have had the opportunity to have a guest speaker present to the MBSA students. Dr. Patel-Nguyen graduated from Enloe High School in 2006 and was an MBSA and IB student.
Through her presentation, we were able to understand what it is like working in foreign countries, more specifically, the refugee camps established in these countries. Through her experiences we were able to learn that many refugees are not in the adequate scenarios and that certain traditions may affect the way medical procedures are done. Dr. Patel-Nguyen worked with several age groups and people with diverse backgrounds, and enjoyed the experience.
Dr. Patel-Nguyen speaking of such was eye opening and gave a new perspective that many students may not have thought of before. MBSA would like to thank Dr. Patel-Nguyen and appreciates her taking time out to speak to MBSA students. Through these guest presentations, students are able to form an idea on what a medical occupation can be.
